2L is moving right along with the 2nd grade curriculum! Some highlights of our week were celebrating the first day of fall by making a scarecrow and having our 2nd Mystery Reader! Mrs. Chivukula (Nachiketh's mom), came on Friday and read a Lion King story to 2L. The class loved her visit and the story! Enjoy the photos below of our Mystery Reader, a phonics activity, and a sneak peak of 2L's Wild West Book Fair display by our classroom. Therefore, please, please, please see that your child is practicing those math facts at home. If your child doesn't know how to add or subtract correctly, it will affect their test grades since there is addition and subtraction on most of our math assessments from here on out. Thanks for taking the time to help your child! READING We will begin week two of Theme 3, "The Moon in Motion". In this theme, we will focus on "Asking Questions". Students will practice asking questions to help them better understand the text. The books we are focusing on are Why Does the Moon Change Shape and The Missing Moon Mystery. SECOND STEP On Wednesday, 2L will learn more about how to empathize with others in Lesson 6. 2L discusses and tries to act out the life goal, "I can do something even if I don't want to or if it's too hard." HAWK TIME Starting next week, all students will be doing a special activity from 1:05 to 1:30 Mon.-Thurs. Our 2nd Grade team has worked hard creating instructional groups to better meet your child's needs. We are excited to give your child another learning opportunity!
